EF'S Cara Sims Commits To Texas
Three-time state champion Cara Sims of Elysian Fields cross country/track announced her commitment to the University of Texas-Austin Monday morning.Sims, who is the reigning Class 2A cross country state champion and also the defending state champ in the 3200- and 1600-meter runs in the spring track season, is the daughter of Chad and Jana Sims. She has had a strong fall season entering the postseason races in cross country and is eyeing a second straight state championship in that sport.
"I am abundantly blessed to announce that I will be furthering my academic and athletic career at the University of Texas!" Sims announced on her Instagram page. "A huge thank you to (UT track/cross country coach Edrick Floreal) and (assistant coach Sarah Smith) for giving me this incredible opportunity to join the UT family. I am SO excited for what’s ahead! I’m endlessly grateful for my amazing support system here at home. None of this would be possible without my family, friends, and faith.
"My faith has truly been the glue that holds everything together. I’ve always taken Philippians 4:13 to heart, and trusting His plan has given me such peace. Jeremiah 29:11 has been a constant reminder that God’s plan will always fall in place, and this is living proof."
Congratulations to Cara on this outstanding achivement!
