Hutson, Simmons Named Top Seniors In Class Of 2025

Elysian Fields High School has announced its top two seniors of the Class of 2025, valedictorian Elizabeth Sue Hutson and salutatorian LeBron Simmons.
VALEDICTORIAN: ELIZABETH SUE HUTSON
Elizabeth, daughter of Byron and Hannah Hutson, has distinguished herself through academic excellence, leadership, and dedicated service to her school and community.
Elizabeth has demonstrated exceptional commitment to her studies and extracurricular activities throughout her high school career. She served as Class President for four years, Student Council President for two years, Vice President of the National Honor Society, Secretary of the Technology Student Association, and a Student Leader in Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
A member of the Varsity Cheer team throughout high school, she served as Cheer Captain her senior year and was honored as an All-American Cheerleader and recipient of the UCA “Pin It Forward” Award, recognizing her leadership, kindness, teamwork, and standards of excellence.
Elizabeth has competed in more than 20 events through UIL Academics, TSA, and FFA, qualifying at the area, regional, and state level in six events. She has been named Student of the Month each year, crowned EFHS Homecoming Queen and Fire Ant Queen, and is a member of the National Society of High School Scholars, The Honor Society Foundation, and The Torch & Laurel Society.
Beyond school, Elizabeth is an accomplished dancer. She has trained with Pat George Mitchell School of Creative Arts, Grace En Motion, and The Dance Studio Longview. She has performed in numerous recitals and events, including the Arts Longview Honors Gala, Rangerette Christmas Show, and ArtEmotion. She has also performed in productions with one of America’s leading professional ballet companies, Ballet West II, appearing in “Cinderella,” “Sleeping Beauty,” and “Aladdin.”
Elizabeth has been a dedicated and influential leader in community service and has volunteered countless hours. At school, Elizabeth played a key role in planning and working all class and organizational school events and fundraising.
In the community, she has been active in city-sponsored events like Color EF with Kindness Fun Run, Night to Shine, Wonderland of Lights, and has collaborated and served with different organizations such as Oakwood House Nursing Home, Marshall Pet Adoption Center, and ArtWalk. Elizabeth’s servant-hearted leadership reflects her deep commitment to making a difference wherever she goes.
This fall, Elizabeth will attend East Texas Baptist University, where she plans to major in Elementary Education and minor in Leadership Studies. She will also continue pursuing her passion for dance as a member of the ETBU Pom Team.
SALUTATORIAN: LeBRON SIMMONS
LeBron Simmons, son of Bronte and Monica Simmons, has been named Salutatorian of the Elysian Fields High School Class of 2025.
A well-rounded and committed student, LeBron has been actively involved in numerous organizations throughout all four years of high school, including the Jacket Pride Band, Speech & Debate Team, One-Act Play, and Student Council. He has consistently earned placement on the A-Honor Roll and currently serves as President of the National Honor Society and Technology Student Association.  LeBron also led the band as drum major for the past three years.
LeBron is also a decorated UIL competitor, earning the title of two-time state qualifier in Cross-Examination Debate and placing 4th at the UIL State Speech Meet as a junior. He has participated in both cross country and tennis and is widely recognized for his leadership and academic dedication.
Outside of school, LeBron volunteers with Friends of Marshall Pets and enjoys playing guitar in his spare time.
This fall, LeBron will attend Texas A&M University in College Station, where he plans to pursue a degree in Data or Computer Engineering through the university’s engineering program.
Congratulations to Elizabeth and LeBron! Graduation for the Class of 2025 is set for 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 16, in Jacket Stadium.
