Elementary Dress Code




The District’s dress code is established to teach grooming and hygiene, prevents disruption, and minimizes safety hazards.  The administration and faculty shall have the right to appraise any current fashion or fad and determine whether it is appropriate or inappropriate for school wear.  The principal has the right to ask students to change attire if it is deemed inappropriate.  Students who disregard the dress and grooming policy will be subject to disciplinary action.  These rules are in effect at all school activities (whether on this campus or any other campus) throughout the school year.  Students who miss class time or are sent home at any time while correcting grooming/dress code problems are considered absent or tardy.  Students and parents may determine a student’s personal dress and grooming standards, provided that they comply with the following:

  • Dress Attracting Undue Attention:Any form of dress that attracts undue attention, disrupts school or detracts from the learning process is not acceptable.
  • No clothing that advertises or depicts tobacco products, alcoholic beverages, drugs, or substances prohibited by the district.
  • Shorts/dresses/skirts may be worn if they are no shorter than 4 inches above the middle of the knee or are below the tip of the middle finger when arms are held straight at the sides.Tight fitting pants such as leggings, yoga pants, tights, jeggings, skinny jeans, etc. must be worn with a top no shorter than 4 inches above the middle of the knee or must come below the tip of the middle finger when arms are held straight at the sides.This applies to all students.
  • Blouses and shirts must COVER the shoulders.Shear garments or garments without a back are not allowed.No undergarments should show through outside clothing. This applies to all students
  • Pants must fit the waist line and not sag.
  • Clothes with holes may not be worn and duct tape is not to be used to cover holes in the fabric.
  • Earrings may be worn by female students but only on the ear.Mouth grills are not allowed and all tattoos must be covered during school hours or during any school activities.
  • Caps, hats, hoods, bandanas, and sunglasses may not be worn inside the building except on “special days” as designated by the administration.Caps, hats, bandanas, and sunglasses must remain in the backpack until the end of school.
  • Hair must be clean and neat.Only natural colored hair is allowed
  • All students must keep their nails short and neat. No artificial nails of any kind allowed at school.
  • Students may not wear make-up or artificial eye lashes.
  • Any hairstyle or color that, in the principal’s judgment, may cause disruption of or interference with normal school operations is prohibited.
  • The length of boy’s hair must be cut above their eyebrows, cut above the collar of their shirt, and cut above the top of the ear lobe.Curly hair on males may not extend two (2) inches beyond the scalp.
  • Students may not wear their hair in/with:  Mohawks, Dreads or Cornrows.                                                                                                         
  • No Flip-Flop sandals or shoes with cleats or roller/skates.
